Barcelona
Definitely one of my favorite places during the trip, Barcelona has a laid-back atmosphere as compared to other bustling cities. Businesses usually start at 10am and closes pretty late (not sure). People here are pretty friendly so don’t mistake their kindness for attempts to rob you (like I did). Although as with all cities, take precaution and not to wonder into dark alleys.
With regards to the food here, prices are pretty expensive ($10 Eur) for an Asian like me. An alternative as with other parts of Europe is to search for middle-eastern food like kebabs that could go as low as ($4-6 Eur). If you’re on a budget for accommodation, check out Urbany Hostel BCN GO. The hostel is pretty cool and definitely worth every penny. Not only that, the crowd there are young adults thus easier to communicate. And for fashionistas, do check out their Zara and Massimo Dutti!
The beautiful part about Barcelona is not only the unique-like buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi, but the epic sun rays shining down your skin even at about 8pm. Yes you heard me, 8pm. I recall chilling by the bench at Museo Montjuic (picture below) around 8pm thinking that it was 5pm and telling my buddy to take it slow because time is on our side. Well, apparently not. So don’t be fooled by the daylight saving time of Barcelona!

The biggest attractions right here is free! They are basically the buildings on the streets. Barcelona is a city where the high-rise buildings cover the exposure of the area thus making it seem like a maze. If you plan on visiting Barcelona, do walk around aimlessly! Get lost in the city and you never know if you’ll stump upon a rare gem.
La Rambla is a pretty awesome place to walk around with street busking along the pavements. Nevertheless, since it’s a touristy area, do be careful of your belongings. Though not a fan of Spanish rice (Paella), you MUST TRY the Tortilla at a market along the street of La Rambla (can’t remember the name of the market). Barcelona is pretty awesome, except the fact that (actually most of the European countries) toilets are hard to locate or that you have to pay for it. So, empty your bladder before getting lost in the city.
Right down La Rambla is the beautiful port where ships dock at the berth. Just strolling along the ships with sunrays shining down your face and a cold beer in your hand, that’s life. Definitely an ideal place to bring your date

And if you walk further down from the port, you’ll eventually hit the Barceloneta beach. Wouldn’t say it’s the best beach in Europe but it has a different feel. Maybe its because I’ve never been to a beach in jeans under a pretty cold temperature? Nonetheless, the beautiful sunrays coupled with the wooden pavement just makes it irresistible to sit and chill.
With all that said, Barcelona remains the top choice for me (not in terms of food choices) throughout my Europe trip. You just can’t get enough of the sunrays. If you’d like to know more feel free to click on my YouTube Channel at the sidebar on the right of the website.
