Travelling in Europe, something that is listed on everyone’s bucket list. Yet, people procrastinate to travel there because they assume that it’s expensive (so much so that it could hit 5 digits for the travel). No doubt it’s a tad expensive, but if you thrift, trust me the trip would be awesome.
If you’re someone like me whom never travelled to anywhere far before, well, its time you do so. To be honest, travelling to Europe was the one trip that changed my perspective in travelling. It made me step out of my comfort zone that subsequently led me to further venture into less mainstream areas.
In a span of 3 weeks, I travelled to 6 different countries (well 7 in you count transiting country) and 8 cities. They are London, Manchester, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, Bruges, Amsterdam, Cologne and back to London for my flight. In total I paid about $4,000 SGD (?) for my total trip inclusive of air tickets and accommodation. It’s neither a cheap trip nor an expensive one.

London
London’s a pretty awesome place except that its costs are super high. Fortunately, we stayed at my friend’s aunt house because the accommodation here is really crazy. Well like any other city shopping in London felt great especially with the cold weather you could shop till you drop (literally). Except that I had no money to shop so I window-shopped in the end.
London’s a city whereby you could just keep walking and walking and walking… Should you ever visit this place, a tip of advice for you: BLEND IN WITH THE CITY, FEEL THE CULTURE. Don’t wander around ghetto neighborhood though. I entered into one and breeze-walked the hell out of my life. I can’t really tell you the places I’ve been to because firstly I can’t remember all of them and secondly, I literally walk everywhere to explore the city. The transportation is pretty expensive in London so if you have the energy, do explore the city with your legs! And if you’re worrying about the prices of food, do not. Whenever you feel hungry and poor, just hop into a Marks & Spencer outlet and just grab those cold salads that are pretty cheap. For dinner, do the same because when closer to closing hours, they mark down the price of these foods. Call me crazy, but I ate them everyday when I was in London.
Manchester
Unless you’re a huge football fan of Manchester United or Manchester City, don’t bother visiting this place (No offense). Basically, Manchester is a pretty boring city with not much to do except for shopping and maybe house viewing?
The hostel we stayed was the Aston House Hostel. Price was pretty okay and the rooms are sufficient for basic needs. There isn’t any toilet in the room so you kind of have to go outside to do your stuff. BUT the toilet was pretty awesome with advanced technology for showering though it’s a shared one.
Apart from the accommodation, the price of food is relatively cheaper than London though still expensive. As always, when in doubt, MARKS & SPENCER!!!
